Moorish American Flag
Moorish American Flag
Two flags may share the red field and green five-pointed star, but they do not tell the same story. This design contrasts the modern Moroccan banner with the ancient Moorish flag, calling attention to the difference between the interlaced Moroccan pentagram and the contiguous Moorish star.

Study the Stars: Know the Moorish Standard
Two red flags. Two green five-pointed stars. Two very different histories.
This design places the modern Moroccan banner beside the ancient Moorish flag to make the distinction unmistakable. The modern Moroccan emblem uses an interlaced, open pentagram adopted in the early twentieth century. The Moorish flag bears a contiguous five-pointed green star, preserved within Moorish tradition and identified by Prophet Noble Drew Ali as part of a national standard more than 10,000 years old.

The flag is rendered in Old Glory Red and Cedar of Lebanon Green, colors chosen for their place in Moorish teaching and sacred history. The red draws from the stripes of the United States banner, which Moors teach traces back to the Banner of Peace and Friendship granted to European colonists for safe passage and development in the Americas under the authority of the Sultan. The green honors the cedars of Lebanon named throughout Abrahamic scripture. Moorish teachings place the events of the Bible in the Americas and point to early American symbols, including the Continental Flag bearing the cedar tree, as evidence of that older connection.
Created as both a statement and a teaching piece, the design challenges the casual merging of Moroccan and Moorish symbols. For Moorish Americans, knowing the difference is part of recovering our history, recognizing our national symbols, and refusing to let colonial revisions define Moorish identity.
